Flight 714 to Sydney is an adrenaline-filled adventure that kicks off when Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock, and Professor Calculus board a plane headed for Sydney. Midway through the flight, their plane is hijacked by an unknown group of criminals, and they are forced to land on a remote, uncharted island. As they explore the island and dodge danger around every corner, they uncover a secret base which introduces them to an entire new web of conspiracy and an unexpected encounter with a criminal mastermind. Tintin and his squad must use every ounce of wit they have in order to escape the seemingly endless cycle of peril.

This classic Tintin book is another thrilling adventure, and the remote island set the stage for an action-packed plot. The presence of Professor Calculus definitely added a layer of humor, especially with his interaction with Captain Haddock. Additionally, the sci-fi elements toward the end of the book were definitely appreciated, as it added a new twist to the storyline and separated itself from the rest of the Tintin series. Although it’s not as iconic or deep as some other adventures, it’s surely a great read and its quick pace won’t keep you reading for too long anyway. Overall, I would rate this book a four out of five.
