Ghost Circles is a graphic novel, the seventh book of a 9-book series called Bone. At the end of the fifth book, the Hooded One is revealed to be Princess Briar, Grandma's sister who was supposed to be dead. The Hooded One tries to kill Thorn, but she survives and the Hooded One is punished by the Locusts for trying to kill the wrong person. There is a big boom in the mountain and some of the locusts escape it, where they had been trapped so now the Lord of the Locusts is partially free. In this book, the Bones, Thorn, and Grandma travel to the ancient city of Atheia to find a base and more warriors to use to fight the rat creatures. However, there are ghost circles all over the land in front of them, and stepping in one could mean death. Luckily, Thorn has the power to see where the circles are, so they avoid them. As they travel, they learn more dark secrets that could shift their entire understanding of the Valley. Can the Hooded One free the Locusts, or will the good prevail?
I enjoyed this book because of all the suspense, with all the plot twists. It was interesting how Jeff Smith incorporated ghost circles and their meaning, as well as why Thorn was able to stand in them. There were multiple stories happening together as more characters gained their importance in the story, and it was interesting to see how everyone was working to help fight their enemies. This is why I give this book a five out of five.
