Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bashardoust is a LGBTQ+ YA Fantasy novel with enemies to lovers and forbidden love tropes. This book is about a princess named Soraya with a power, or rather a curse, that kills anything she touches. Cursed before birth by a div, a magical faerie, and all her misfortunes make her question if she is a princess or simply a monster with poison rushing through her veins.

Girl, Serpent, Thorn is a Persian twist to the original Grimms story that shows the darker attributes of sleeping beauty. I personally thought this book was a 4 out of 5 stars. I liked the inner monologue and how the princess grew throughout the book. I didn’t love the pace of the book, often times it was a little slow, but I am used to faster paced thriller type books. For a fantasy it wasn’t too slow. If you love, YA queer fantasy or romantasy books you will love this. It is action packed while still having hints of cute romantic scenes. It is definitely a memorable read but I found the world building lacking and wished for more details about the scenes. Because when I read, I like to envision a movie in my mind. This book was very intriguing, and I would definitely recommend it.
