The Giver by Lois Lowry is about a society with citizens who have no memories of its past. The main character, Jonas, is chosen to be the receiver of memory, which means he receives the memories that none of the other characters receive. The more memories he receives, the more he realizes how messed up his community is.

The Giver is a great book about freedom and individuality. It’s a popular dystopian novel read by many people around the world. It is a quick and easy read, but it has important themes. I enjoyed the book due to its unique setting where people within the community don’t get to choose their own jobs, or choose the kind of life they want to live. For that reason, this book really provided me with a different perspective. The only reason I give the book a four instead of a five is because the ending was strange and not satisfying, but the rest of the book remains great. I would recommend this book to young adults, fans of dystopian fiction or anyone into books with deeper meanings.
