On a remote Irish island, Jules Keegan and Will Slater celebrate their wedding. What everyone thinks will be the wedding of the year, turns up rather dark. Jules Keegan, the perfect bride isn't as perfect as she seems. Olivia, Jules step sister, is hiding something that could ruin the wedding. Aoife, the wedding planner and owner of the island, always seems to hide in the shadows. Johnno, the best man, is haunted by the past. Finally, Hannah, the plus one, might be secretly jealous of the bride. All have secrets. All have motives. But only one is the murderer.
This book had me on my toes and just kept me guessing. The book goes back and forth from past to present and the victim isn't known till the very end of the book. Halfway through it is obvious who dies. The Guest List is very slow but has plot twists that will make you finish the book. If you follow along, you will probably guess who the murderer is and why they did it. I thought I would be happy to figure it out before it was revealed but I feel sad. Is a murder mystery book really good if a 15-year-old girl figures out who did it and why when there are still a good 70 pages left? I was also promised a book that “Evokes the great Agatha Christie Classics” but ended up with a book that has somewhat of a similar concept to one of her books.
That being said, I would still recommend this book, as it's not the worst mystery book. However, I highly recommend And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie if you actually want a great mystery
