Happy Place is a sweet romance about love, friendship and the beauty of growing up. It is about Harriet and Wyn, a perfect couple who got engaged very young and had a strong love for each other- until they secretly broke up six months ago. But ,they haven’t told their best friends yet. Every year, their friend group has a tradition of spending a week together at a cottage in Maine. This year’s trip will be the last one before the cottage is sold, so Harriet and Wyn agree to pretend they’re still together to avoid ruining the reunion. As they fake their relationship in front of their closest friends, Harriet and Wyn find themselves forced to share a room, cook food and participate in traditions that bring back memories of when they were happy. They still have a lot of chemistry. But beneath the laughter and jokes are years of miscommunication and insecurities that tore them apart.

I loved reading this book because it is a funny, beautiful exploration of how love changes and how even the happiest memories can be filled with sadness. I love how the book isn’t just a romance, it is also a reflection on friendship, identity and the process of figuring out what a person really wants in life. I also love how the flashbacks in the book are seamless in the story and create emotions that make the couple’s story feel complete. The author also talks about issues such as mental health and communication which are very important topics to discuss. Overall, this is a beautiful story that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance books and YA novels because it is an amazing combination of the two.
