In Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry spends another miserable summer at
the Dursleys’. While the Dursleys’ were having a party, Harry gets a visit from his friend Ron.
Ron had heard that the Dursleys’ were treating them very badly, and so he snuck Harry out of
the Dursleys’ and took him to his own house. While shopping for school supplies, Harry and
Ron had an encounter with Lucius Malfoy, who threatened to hurt Mr. Weasley. As Harry and
Ron get ready to go back to Hogwarts, they aren’t able to enter Platform 9 ¾, so they decide to
take Ron’s dad’s flying car and end up crashing it and getting in trouble. As the year progresses,
Harry and his friends find out about a certain chamber that was the home to a bloodthirsty
Basilisk, that was supposed to wipe the school of all Muggle born students. It was believed that
only the heir of Slytherin was able to open it.
In my opinion, this book is definitely a great book by J.K. Rowling, but the suspense isn’t
as good as it is in the other books. Her word choice and way of writing was superb and kept me
engaged, but the suspense wasn’t as much as I thought it would be. I would still recommend
this book and give it a 5 star rating!
