Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the fourth book in the Harry Potter series and is written by J.K. Rowling. In this entry, Harry and his friends look forward to spending their summer by watching the Quidditch World Cup live and experience the skills of quidditch phenoms such as Victor Krum. However, mysterious things occur at the Cup and the threat of Voldemort, and his followers grow stronger. Still, Harry and his gang go into Hogwarts with high hopes of winning the Quidditch trophy again for Gryffindor, but the hopes disappear when they learn that the matches have been replaced by the Triwizard Tournament, a tournament where the three major schools of magic (Hogwarts being one of them) must select a participant via the Goblet of Fire. When Harry’s name gets drawn, despite his ineligibility and his entrance as a fourth player, he must compete in the dangerous contest. This book is more serious than the other books in the series, and Harry Potter is not viewed as “The Chosen One” as many of his peers have come to view him. In turn, this makes him a more interesting protagonist to follow, and we get to see him develop as he faces new challenges in the book. This book is also one of the longest in the series, clocking in at a whopping 750 pages, but still never slows down and bores the reader. Ron and Hermione’s friendships with Harry are tested, and they too grow as characters as the book goes on. Like the other books in this series, readers will experience thrills and surprises at every turn. Unlike the other books in this series, more pages means more Harry Potter to read and enjoy.
