Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is a wonderful and popular fantasy book written by J.K
Rowling. This book is about a 16 year old teenage wizard with a strange lightning scar on his
forehead named Harry. In his sixth year, Harry suspects there are new dangers lurking within
the castle walls. Dumbledore is more intent than ever on preparing the young wizard for the
final battle with Voldemort. Throughout the book we learn more about the history of Voldemort
as Harry and Dumbledore strive to find a way to defeat Lord Voldemort once and for all. Love is
amok in this book with characters such as Harry, Ron, and Hermione dealing with crushes and
romantic drama too.
This book in my opinion felt mainly like setup as it starts off as a normal year and the heart of
the book being about Voldemort. I felt like there was more that the author could have fleshed out
with Voldemort as he still mainly resembles a Disney villain. Moreover, the romantic drama and
almost slice of life moments in the book made the pacing drag and was uninteresting. There
was rarely any magical components fleshed out in this book until the end, with a bombastic and
tragic conclusion. While this novel sets up a compelling finale, this novel is the weakest in the
series.
