House of Sky and Breath is the second book in the Crescent City series and is definitely a downgrade from the first one. The story follows Bryce, Hunt and their friends after surviving the attack of Hel, a demon realm, in the first book. Bryce takes risks in her relationship with both Hunt and the rebel rebellion that is fighting against the unjust rule of the Asteri. Secrets are exposed and new enemies are revealed as Bryce and Hunt explore their future.

Although it is still entertaining and a fun read, the story introduces new perspectives that fall flat and become boring. I recommend this book if you want to finish the series, but it doesn’t come near to the quality and ingenuity of the first book. The best part about this book is the last 200 pages, which isn’t very much compared to the other boring 600.  This book is mediocre, but I wouldn’t call it a waste of time. I enjoyed it overall and would recommend it for people wanting more of Bryce and Hunt.
