The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins is a dystopian novel about a 16-year-old girl named Katniss Everdeen who lives in the poorest region of her country, District 12. Every year, her country holds a competition called the Hunger Games where people are randomly selected and asked to fight to the death to win the games. Katniss is chosen to participate in the games for her district, along with a boy named Peeta. She must leave everything behind, including her friend Gale, to go fight in a game she might not live through. We see how Katniss and Peeta are able to grow a bond, even in the horrific situation they are put in. This novel shows examples of grief, love, and acceptance.

I really enjoyed reading this novel, and I loved the way they made it seem so futuristic. All the characters made a big impact in this story, even the minor ones. Even though it is on paper, it has so much suspense and good imagery for the reader to imagine a good picture of each scene in their head! I really do recommend this book, and after reading it I also recommend watching the movie!
