The Ickabog, by J. K. Rowling, is a story about love, friendship, never giving up, and a
very big monster. Daisy and Bert live in a perfect kingdom, until a man comes
complaining of the story tale Ickabog. The king investigates with a team of men. They
return with one man dead and a king terrified the Ickabog is coming for him. Daisy faces
a new home and a nasty old lady. Bert is on the run when he finds Daisy again. As they
face the weather, tyrannical men, and a cowardly king, they start to think, who really is
the Ickabog?
I have loved J. K. Rowling’s other books and decided to give this one a try.
It wasn’t as good as the Harry Potter series, but still a great read. I liked how this book
taught you not to judge people before you really know them. It’s a great book for people
of all ages. It was geared towards children but dealt with concepts that we all have to
face, such as loss of family, standing up for yourself and others, and how a little bit of
kindness can change everything.
