Finny has always loved Autumn. He thinks she knows of his adoration, but she does not. When the boundaries holding them back finally break, they only have one night together before tragedy strikes. After a car accident that leaves Finny dead, Autumn is left to grieve her lover and navigate pregnancy without the one person that got her through anything. As Finny’s baby continues to grow, Autumn learns to reach out and surround herself with people that carry pieces of Finny within their stories. People like Jack, Finny’s best friend, who is discovering how to live again without his friend by his side.
This book was better than the last. Laura Nowlin continues to impress with this novel, which caught me off guard and gave me the point of view I didn’t know I needed. We get to see from Finny’s perspective up until the accident, then Jack’s immediately after, and Autumn’s again further down the road. The lineup of these characters was incredible, as each one had a different story that all wove together to create the grief stricken book I read. I do think that Jack deserved more page time, and the beginning with Finny could have been shortened(as we had already read that part from the first book), although I did like the amount of detail put into Finny’s point of view. I would rate this book at five out of five, as I did highly enjoy it and the way it built off of the last book. Definitely a good read, and definitely worth my time.
