“Words, I think, are such unpredictable creatures. No gun, no sword, no army or king will ever be more powerful than a sentence. Swords may cut and kill, but words will stab and stay, burying themselves in our bones to become corpses we carry into the future, all the time digging and failing to rip their skeletons from our flesh.”
The third book in the Shatter Me series, Ignite Me follows Juliette after a horrible accident, meaning she has no idea who is still alive. She finds comfort in the last person she ever thought she’d trust but starts growing even closer to him. Her friends are less than pleased.
My personal favorite book of the series, this book itself redeems the rest of this chaotic series and was the reason I originally fell in love with it. Finally starting to focus on the characters that deserve recognition and giving (well deserved) villain arcs to the irritating characters who got too much attention in the past books, this one finally fixes all the mistakes the past ones made. Still far from perfect, it is YA after all, Ignite Me, despite its flaws easily the best book of the series. I would recommend reading the series just to read this book. The ones after face the same problems as the previous ones, so this one is truly the jewel of the bunch.
Best of the series 4 out of 5 stars
