Invincible: Compendium One by Robert Kirkman follows the journey of Mark Grayson, a teenage boy who inherits superpowers from his father, Omni-Man, a heroic figure with a dark secret. As Mark embraces his role as the superhero Invincible, he faces numerous challenges, including powerful enemies and the realization that his father’s intentions may not be as noble as they first appeared. The book blends action, personal struggles and family dynamics while exploring themes of responsibility, morality and identity. This ultimately sets the stage for a larger, interconnected universe of heroes and villains.
Invincible: Compendium One grabbed me with its unexpected twists and deep emotional stakes, especially the revelation about Omni-Man’s true intentions. The book blends intense action with shocking themes of betrayal, power and what it means to be a hero. I love the book and the show, but it may have some gory themes and could be disturbing for some people. Personally, it left me reflecting on trust and the difficult choices heroes face. I’d recommend it to fans of superhero stories with very surprising and dark twists. I give this book a five out of five.
