Iron Man is one of my favorite superhero origin stories and movies. The movie introduces us to Tony Stark, a genius billionaire inventor who is the CEO of Stark Industries, a weapons manufacturing company. A visit to Afghanistan for a weapons test turns disastrous as his convoy gets attacked by terrorists and Tony gets kidnapped and forced to build weapons for them. Tony Stark, however, creates a suit of armor to help him escape the terrorists. The story does not have a single boring moment, and the CGI holds up well even today.
This movie was the first movie in the marvel cinematic universe and gave a good introduction to the world. The characters in this movie are very good and all play an important role in the movie. We see a lot of character development happen and deeper themes like the impact of technology and redemption are shown with emotional depth. The movie takes its time and does not have urgency to keep the tension, which allows for a natural flow of the movie. The movie also does a good job of balancing the story and world-building to make a blend that keeps the viewers’ attention. My favorite part of the movie is definitely when Tony Stark escapes his captors. Overall, I loved the story, the world and the characters in this movie. I recommend it to anyone who loves superhero movies to watch it at least once. I give it a 4.7 out of 5.
