It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover is a novel about Lily Bloom, a girl with a rough past, who falls in love with neurosurgeon - Ryle Kincaid. Their relationship grows and Lily begins to see Ryle’s darker, abusive side, taking her through flashbacks to her past. This book defines the complexities of abusive relationships, mainly the struggle to leave them as the love and emotional manipulation is hard to break away from. It explores Lily’s growth and strength to leave a toxic relationship. It’s both touching and inspiring.
This book was one of my quicker reads - it sucked me into the story and I couldn’t put it down! I finished it in about two or three days. The time switches kept me interested, but there were times when I thought the flashbacks got monotonous. It was a good book to read and stay interested in for a short time, but I don’t know if I would reread it like I do the other books I love. It was deep and thoughtful, but there were times I wished the story was a little different. Overall a good, quick read.
