After Lily’s abusive father has died she meets a surgeon that she is interested in. Lily and the
surgeon, Ryle start a relationship but find that their goals for life do not match up. They part
ways but find eachother again and their relationship progresses until he lashes out on her
reminding her of the abusive relationship her parents had with each other. Although Lily told
herself that Ryle was nothing like her father. Lily marries Ryle and is looking forward to starting
her life with Ryle. That's when Lily runs into an old friend from highschool, Atlas, that is in need
of help financially, she helps him and the friendship turns into romance. Ryle came to find out
about the relationship and hurt Lily. Lily leaves Ryle but soon after finds out that she is pregnant
with his baby. Lily is torn because she wants Ryle to be a father to her child but does not want
to continue to endure the abuse. She finds comfort and safety in Atlas during the early stages of
pregnancy while also accepting help from Ryle towards the end of her pregnancy. At the end of
the book we see Lily step up and break the pattern of domestic abuse and leaves Ryle for good.
It is implied that she is ready to start a relationship with Atlas instead. I give this book a 4 out of
5 because it kept me at the edge of my seat while reading. It made me feel happy for Lily and
her daughter that she will not continue to see Ryle because of the abuse. I recommend this
book to people who like juicy romance novels.
