The Killing Code is a novel written by Ellie Marney. This book is based in World War II in Washington DC. Kit Sutherland has just witnessed the death of her mistress and suddenly gets recruited as a codebreaker in Arlington Hall. Kit has to assume the rule of her old boss, and hide her real identity, things prove more challenging when Kit witnesses the murder of a government girl. Kit is joined by Moya, who is a supervisor in her department, a fellow codebreaker Dottie and Violet, who’s friend had also been murdered. They work together and try as hard as they can to find the real culprit, but the situation becomes dire when more girls are murdered and Kit’s secret is in jeopardy. As Kit struggles to hide her real identity, the killer is closing in on the girls as they develop friendships and heartbreak. I personally loved this book as the setting of the book was really unique, and the book does a good job at not being obvious as I was constantly left wondering what would happen in the next chapter. I would definitely recommend it to a more mature audience as the topics can be a bit disturbing at times.
