In the seventh book of the Tintin series, Tintin travels to the country of Syldavia, but a couple of wrong turns leave him in a political crisis. The king’s royal scepter is in danger of being stolen by a group of criminals who want to destabilize the nation. Tintin begins to investigate the mystery, but he will face many dangerous situations including double crosses, vehicular chases, and dramatic escapes. Along with his loyal dog, Snowy, Tintin must navigate through a race against time to stop a royal disaster.

King Ottokar’s Sceptre is decent but not the most thrilling. The story is a bit slow at times and not as memorable as some other Tintin adventures. The main reason for this is the ending of the book, which is pretty anticlimactic. While he faces a bunch of challenges throughout the story, the resolution is a bit too straightforward, and a plot twist could have made the story more impactful. Still, Hergé’s classic art and humor make it an enjoyable, quick read - so I give it a 3 out of 5.
