Kung Fu Panda 4 is a decent installment to the Kung Fu Panda series. It carries over the older characters and introduces new characters to keep it interesting. The story starts off showing us that Po must get ready to become the next spiritual leader of the valley of peace and needs to pick a new dragon warrior to take his place. While on this journey to become the spiritual leader, Po faces a formidable foe. The set-up of the movie is good, but by the end the whole movie felt mediocre and there was not much tension. In terms of character development, every installment Po makes huge strides in improving and becoming wiser and stronger, but that did not feel the case with this movie. The villain’s character was interesting but did not feel as intimidating as the other villains in the series. The animation was good and other key aspects like the humor and characters matched the other installments. The climax fight was good and matched the level of the other movies’ climaxes. Overall, the movie did not leave a lasting impact like the other installments and fell flat, but the overall it was a decent movie with a decent story, and it was interesting to see the direction the series took. I give this movie a 3.2 out of 5 and recommend it to be watched by fans of the Kung Fu Panda series and animated movies.
