This exciting, fast-paced, book is one that is very violent but somehow still very romantic. This book is centered around an assassin Shin Lina, who is the last remaining member of her Talons gang. She now works for Konrarnd Kalmin, the leader of her rival gang, the Blackbloods, in order to protect her little sister. After stealing and ruining the tapestry of an immortal Dokkaebi, Lina faces serious problems. The Dokkaebi she stole from was none other than the emperor of the Dokkaebi, and now the emperor is looking for revenge. He takes her to the land of the Dokkaebi and forces her to play a game where only one of them will come out alive.
I LOVED this book! It was one that kept me on the edge of my seat and had me reading almost constantly. There was a lot more romance in this book than I expected but I really liked the romantic parts of the book. There’s lots of plot twists and the book kept me entertained on every page. I really loved how the author incorporated a lot of Korean cultural aspects and of course, the Korean folktales that are the framework of this book. I also loved how the author was super descriptive and how they made the story very fast-paced. I really like books with a lot of action, so if you like action you will love this book. I also recommend this book to people who like fantasy and romance. I would say that it’s more of a 13+ read because of some of the gruesome, violent, scenes or the very romantic scenes. Overall, an incredible book that I will definitely be reading again in the future.
