The Lightning Thief is Rick Riordan’s first book in the series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Percy Jackson, the book’s protagonist, is a struggling sixth grader at a boarding school. But, when Percy is constantly attacked by monsters it is finally revealed to him what he is, a half-blood, half-god, and half-human. Even though he is very new to this new world Percy is accused of stealing Zeus’ prized possession, the master bolt. Percy, joined by two friends has to travel across the country before the summer solstice, so he can retrieve Zeus’ lightning bold and prove his innocence.
The Lightning Thief is filled with adventure, mystery, and many twists you never see coming. This book is super entertaining and I recommend it if you enjoy or want to learn about Greek Mythology. If you have ever read the Harry Potter book series this is a series that you should check out. I gave this book five stars because it is filled with humor, and I did not want to set it down.
