Lion is based on a true story of Saroo Brierley’s journey of finding his way home. The author shares his story of how he got lost on a train when he was only five-years-old and ended up being separated from his family. Later, he was adopted by an Australian family. Eventually, after years of research and effort, Brierly ended up tracking down his biological family using Google Earth and was reunited with them. In my opinion, this is by far one of the most emotional books I’ve ever read. The story is truly inspiring, and inflicts hope upon all readers. Brierley dealt with something incredibly challenging at such a young age but never lost hope of seeing his family again. The book talks about the hardship he faced, the obstacles he ran into when trying to track down his family, and the amazing perseverance he showed. I read this book a few years ago, and I was a lot younger, but its message of never letting go of hope has resonated with me to this day. I value the lessons this book teaches and recommend that everyone reads it. I would give this book a 5/5 rating.
