When a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from Britain is shot down, Ralph and the rest of the boys take refuge on an abandon island. During the war, a break from everyone seems nice, and the boys quickly build a shelter and thrive on their new island home. Although everything seems right at first, it’s not long until being cut off from civilization leads some of the boys to turn feral and separate into groups, preparing for war of their own.
The Lord of the Flies is an amazing 10/10 book for anyone to read. It shows how without structure and regulation, people get out of control and destroy themselves. It has plenty of unexpected twists and turns, and it ends surprisingly dark, even for a book taking place during the war. I would recommend this book to anyone as it is one of my personal favorites and I think anyone can enjoy it.
