The book Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren, is a beautifully written book about how love will always be left in your heart, no matter how much time goes by. Macy was just ten years old when she met Elliot, and after eleven years they are reunited. In what feels like a lifetime of memories since they last saw each other, they must deal with the heartache of childhood, while also learning how to be a part of each other's adult lives.
In a story that flashes from the past to the present, you’ll understand fully how much a first love can leave you wanting more. This book is a good read. The character development is a little slow in the beginning as the author writes the characters in such ways you need time to better understand them. The flashback writing is probably the best part of the book, trying to figure out what happened, almost as if it’s a secret to you is the main reason that I kept on reading the book even in the slow parts. I would recommend this book to people who enjoy an almost Hallmark-like story, but if you’re looking for a gripping romance book, I would look somewhere else. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars because while I enjoyed it, it’s not for everyone and not something that would be a top recommendation.
