Summary: Thomas wakes up realizing he’s in an elevator and with a severe headache. He can’t remember his age, birthday, or even who his parents were. He figures out that he’s been dropped in a maze with a bunch of other teens and no discoverable way to escape. He starts getting memories. Some that will change everything. Dive in as Thomas tries to figures out how to decipher this endless puzzle, discover who put them there, and unravel his true identity.

Opinion: The most compelling aspect about this book is the ongoing action and suspense that puts the character in danger numerous times and the fact that the plot in this book could very well happen in real time in the future. The most disappointing part about the book is that the first book in the series always leaves the reader with many questions which can only be answered in the later books and the prequels. This book gives a very apparent lesson of sacrifice and identity because many of the characters die in the process of the experiments. Their memories had also been wiped out by the creators of the maze, so they search for their identity. I would recommend this book to people ages 13 and above because the plot is very compelling to the point where you have to digest every little detail to understand the true meaning of the book. The novel also has a few incidents of violence and gore because of the underlying theme of survival.
