Megamind is a good movie with an amazing story that has a lot of depth. Megamind and Metro Man were both infants sent to earth from their home planets, which got destroyed. While Metro Man found a loving family and lived a life full of attention and happiness, Megamind landed in a prison and was raised by prisoners and was always the odd one out. This sets up the story with an amazing start, with lots of unexpected twists and turns that reveal a lot about each character and help with character development as the movie goes on. The story has a lot of comedic moments, and the animation is good as well. There are a lot of messages and themes in the movie as well, such as nature vs nurture, identity, free will and fate which adds a lot of depth to the story. We see a lot of growth and exploration of these questions, whether being a villain was something Megamind really wanted, or did Metro Man really choose to be a hero? These messages are the main thing that differentiate it and make it unique from other animated movies, while other movies take a simpler approach in deciding the antagonist and the protagonist’s character, emotions and motives, Megamind takes a unique one and delivers. While the outcome was predictable, the way things unfolded was more interesting to watch. All other parts of this movie were also good and delivered on an overall good movie. I give it 4.1 out of 5. I recommend it to anyone who has not watched it yet to watch it, as the story is unique.
