Messenger by Lois Lowry is the third book in the dystopia Giver series. The community is known for its hospitality and generosity, but it is also surrounded by a dangerous forest that is a mystery. Matty is a messenger who is tasked with delivering important messages between Village and other nearby communities. However, he starts to discover that things are not as perfect as they seem in Village, and he learns that he has a special gift that allows him to heal others, but using his gift comes at a great cost. As Matty journeys deeper into the forest, he must confront the darkness that lies within himself, as well as the dangers that lurk around every corner in the oddly thickening forest. I liked that this book was somewhat connected to the first two books in the series, however I do wish there was a little bit more of the first two books explained in this book. There were certain parts of the book, especially in the middle, where the book seemed a little slow, but there were also several times, especially at the end, where there was a lot of action, and I found it very interesting. I found the ending to be just like the endings of the other two books, without much of a conclusion, and it left us wondering what had actually happened.
