Namesake by Adrienne Young is the sequel to Fable. This book continues the story of Fable, a 17 year-old girl who was left on the island of Javal by her father. Fable is able to save up money to seek voyage out of the island with West and his crew. They travel across the Narrows and attempt to survive the challenges that come along their way. Fable learns more about her mother and a family friend Clove, who she thought was dead. Readers discover details about the crew’s past and the sacrifices they have made to reach the freedom they long to have one day.
I enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced similar to Fable, and it was nice to learn more about the background of the members of the crew. I loved reading about the connections that Fable develops with the crew as she eventually becomes a part of their family. Also, it was intriguing to read about Saint and his relationship with Fable and his wife. Overall, this book is great for anyone who enjoys reading fantasy. I give this book a 4 out of 5 stars.
