The Official ACT Prep Guide is a book used to prepare students taking the ACT. It covers the concepts you need to know for the test, honing in on individual concepts in each subject (English Language Arts, Math, Reading and Science). There are also plenty of test strategies covered as well as things you need to do on test day. There are many high-quality practice tests that are quite similar to the ACT. Each practice test has detailed solutions so you can understand what you did wrong and what mistakes not to make next time. There are more practice tests online on the Wiley online platform.
The practice tests in this book are slightly harder than the actual ACT, helping with good preparation so that the test can seem less stressful. There are many practice tests, and the test-taking strategies are quite useful! However, some sections of the practice tests are the same as books from previous years, so not all the practice tests are newly written. This makes it so that if you decide to order books from two consecutive years for extra practice, you might end up redoing a test, which would be less helpful. This could still be helpful in a certain way, though, because you can redo a test later to see if you fixed the mistakes you had made previously. Because of all this, I give this book a four out of five.
