The One is a suspenseful novel about America Singer trying to win the heart of Prince Maxon. At first, she wasn’t sure if she wanted the pressures of the crown, but now she is determined to be the girl that Maxon chooses. When her secrets about Aspen are brought to the surface, America’s chances of being the princess are disappearing before her eyes.
I really like this book because it has great character development with the character Celeste. She goes from being a snotty, entitled young lady to a humbled supporter of America. My least favorite part of this book is America becoming slightly snobby and rude as she steps into the shoes of a princess. I would recommend this book to 8th graders.
