“Do not be ridiculous, boy. You cannot kill what is already dead.”

After finding out the truth of her identity, Arsinoe begins perfecting her new gift, while Katharine slowly loses herself to the voices within her head. Mirabelle, previously the most powerful is having to rethink everything after new enemies make themselves known. The girls remake themselves in the sequel to Three Dark Crowns. I was wondering what Blake would do in the latest novel, and I am very pleased! I adored the new direction One Dark Throne took, still with the same characters but each grappling with a completely new issue regarding their identity. My favorite of course being Katharine and her new fractured personality. I also found several side characters really endearing, but I don’t think I’d ever been so attached to the main characters in a YA novel before, I typically find them annoying or clingy, hence why I tend to steer clear of that genre. But Blake outdid herself yet again, and the darker tone of this book (especially regarding Katharine) was very well done. A wonderful sequel to a great series 5 out of  stars.
