Rick Riordan’s fantasy book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief is the first book in the Percy Jackson series. In the book, Percy realizes he is a demigod, son of a god and mortal parent, which puts him at risk. On his way to a safe haven camp called Camp Half-Blood, his mom is taken. After befriending a few people, Percy embarks on a journey to the underworld to get his mom back. On the way he faces monsters and many other enemies, as he learns to use his powers.

Rick Riordan’s writing style is truly a great style. He keeps the books very interesting and has great humor placed in the book always at the right time. He manages to do all that while keeping a very strong story with the right amount of twists. Along with the interesting story, the chapter names in this book are sure to make you laugh with how creative and humorous they are. I would rate this book five stars as it is super interesting, and all the characters are brilliant. Rick Riordan also does a great job mixing the fantasy world of Greek mythology with the modern world in the USA as Percy’s journey takes him through famous landmarks as he travels from New York to LA passing through places like the St. Louis arch. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is even slightly interested in fantasy.
