Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters is a fairly well-received sequel and an exciting Percy Jackson adventure where Percy’s best friend, Grover, is taken by a Cyclopes and in order to free him and retrieve the Golden Fleece, must sneak and venture into the Sea of Monsters, a monster-infested area of water with Annabeth.

This book is a fairly decent sequel and shows a return to the Greek demigod world. The writing is a lot stiffer, and it seems slightly less well-written with more random monster fights. However, in place of a more comprehensive plot is much more world-building and interesting character dynamics. Each of the characters are given a lot more depth than in the first book, and room to expand, which the first book lacked as being more of a standalone. The plot is the least memorable of the series, and the book is not as exciting as the first. However, it’s a quick and easy read with a lot of snarky and funny humor. Overall, this is a fairly solid return to the mythical world of Percy Jackson and is great for any reader thirsty for more.
