The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World is a psychological fiction novel written by Laura Imai Messina. This book follows the story of Yui, who lost both her mother and her daughter to a tsunami in 2011. The death of her mother and daughter caused Yui to feel immense grief. She decides to find a way to cope with her grief and she does this by visiting a disconnected phone booth. After hearing about the phone booth she begins the journey to it. During her journey she meets a widowed husband named Takeshi. They join journeys and head to the phone booth together. Throughout their journey, they find the healing they have been searching for. I really enjoyed this book. It had such a beautiful storyline that really made me feel something when I was reading it. The characters were so full of depth and we got to see so much development in each of them. I think anyone would enjoy this book, but I also think it would be a good read for someone who is trying to cope with the loss of a loved one.
