The Power of One is a movie based on life in South Africa during the 1930s. The movie is about Peekay, a young boy who grows up in South Africa during the 1930s and 1940s. Peekay faces many challenges throughout his life, including bullying, racism, and everyone he cares about leaving him or dying. He finds out he has a passion for boxing and develops strong relationships with his mentor, Doc, and a black prisoner named Geel Piet. As he grows older, Peekay becomes more aware of the injustices and begins to fight against them.

I watched this movie at school. It is not a movie I would have watched on my own, however, it was a good movie. This movie gives insight into the injustices that happen in South Africa that often get dismissed. It also shows how the different groups of people in the area act and are treated. This movie takes place over about 10 years, and I really liked getting to watch Peekay grow up. As he grew up, he began to understand more about the injustices in his community, and I liked watching him learn how to handle the situations he was faced with. Before watching this movie, I did not know about all of the injustices that minority groups in South Africa were facing, and I found it interesting to learn more about them. I liked this movie, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about life in South Africa.
