Jane Austen adaptations might be one of my favorite forms of media. I’ve watched everyone you could get hold of, but by far my favorite will always be Pride and Prejudice 2005. This movie was an adaptation of Jane Austen's famous novel by the same name and follows Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy and their troublesome, frustrating, and utterly swoon worthy romance. Elizabeth Bennett comes from a large family with little means, while Mr. Darcy comes from a noble and wealthy family with a large estate. This vast divide in styles and manners of living causes great conflict, especially when coupled with Lizzie's rebel-like attitude.
Pride and Prejudice 2005 has become my favorite rainy-day watch. There are so many iconic scenes to remember, like the hand shock or Darcy confessing his desires in the rain. It is also a gorgeous movie with the costuming that is both simplistic and elegant. I will never be able to get Kiera Knightley's pearl updo out of my head. This movie is utterly perfect for anyone who loves romance and period pieces. The tension and chemistry between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth are unparalleled. This movie is iconic in every sense, and especially in the romance sphere. I would highly recommend anyone watch this, my rating is a 5 out of 5 stars, and I would give it more if I could.
