Red Queen follows Mare Barrow, a seventeen-year-old girl in a world divided by the color of blood. Mare has red blood, meaning that she's a commoner whereas those with silver blood are the elite with supernatural powers. In this dystopian novel Mare discovers her powers and fights against the silvers.
While I really liked the first book in this series I can’t say the same about the others. This book was addicting and easy to read, but the next two books took me weeks to get through. I still think that this book was worth it, but it’s just another one of the many dystopian books to come out of the mid-2010s. The writing was okay, the characters were good, and the magic system was nothing special.
