Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard Dystopian, Fantasy
Red Queen follows the journey of a Mare, a 17-year-old girl, who lives in a world split in two by blood. The Silvers, the powerful, with superpowers and too much money to spare. Then the Reds, who are poor and struggle with trying to survive. Silvers control the Reds, using their powers to scare them. When young Mare finds out that she, a girl with red blood who grew up poor with so many others, has powers. Once everyone finds out, an elaborate plan is formed to cover everything up. Mare then has to stay with the Royals knowing that she is leaving everyone else behind.
Red Queen was an overall good book for me. In the middle, it has a lot of entertaining action going on, and near the end, an unexpected plot twist. However, the beginning of the book, around the first ⅓ of it, starts off pretty slow. Once you get hooked around the middle it is quite enjoyable. It’s certainly entertaining and I do not regret reading it. I would rate this book a 3 out of 5
