From a seemingly innocent ship model gifted by Captain Haddock, Tintin uncovers a peculiar clue that could lead him to the ancient treasure from the Unicorn ship. Tintin, Haddock and Snowy team up to follow the trail of clues while racing against a similar team of armed and dangerous treasure hunters. As they travel across Europe, Tintin’s sharp mind and Haddock’s unexpected courage propels them closer and closer to the treasure. Will Tintin and his team find the secret riches, or be forgotten like all the rest?
This is quite a captivating story, with twists and turns everywhere. The treasure hunt itself is full of action and suspense with plenty of humor to balance it out. The collaboration between Tintin and Captain Haddock is definitely a highlight and will always make you laugh. At some points in the story, though, the plot can feel predictable and a little too in favor of Tintin. Still, The Secret of the Unicorn is an excellent short graphic novel with many instances of attention to detail and vibrant artwork, earning the book a four out of five.
