Oraya is a human adopted by a vampire king who competes in the Kejari, a legendary tournament, with Raihn, an unexpected ally. She enters the deathmatch to win a wish from a goddess, which would grant her power. Oraya and Raihn form an unexpected bond during the Kejari, causing Oraya to question her beliefs and her hope for the future. Oraya must decide whether her new feelings are worth the future she’s been working toward her whole life.

I really enjoyed this book, as it has similar aspects to other series I have loved in the past. This book did reuse some common themes and plot lines as to other fantasy novels, but I thought it had just enough of a unique spin to it to work. I would recommend this book to people that have read and liked the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, as well as the Empyrean series, although this novel has a more basic storyline. Again, I know what I like, and this was a familiar comfort read. Personally, I would rate this book at a four, as I did enjoy it, but it didn’t leave me craving more. I will, however, be continuing with the series.
