Monique, a journalist is recruited to interview the famous actress, Evelyn Hugo, for an auction. When Monique goes to interview Evelyn, she learns that she is actually going to interview Evelyn to write Evelyn’s biography. Monique hears Evelyn’s story from the beginning to the end and learns about her glamorous, secretive, and shocking life including the stories behind Evelyn’s seven husbands and Evelyn’s actual paramour. After learning about the secrets that Evelyn has kept from society, Monique learns that her life is connected to Evelyn’s as well. Although Monique grows to respect Evelyn, Monique learns that Evelyn left Monique’s dad when Evelyn’s best friend, Harry, got in a car crash with Monique’s dad in the passenger seat. So as Monique battles between writing about Evelyn or not, Monique learns of Evelyn’s death by suicide. Despite all of Evelyn’s mistakes, Monique decides to honor her life and writes her story.
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo was amazing, and I absolutely loved reading it. Monique and Evelyn were great and well-developed characters. It was very well-written and left no room for doubt. This story was one that I could not put down and I would reread this. There were many plot twists and details that captured your attention and brought you into the story. This book is great for those who like realistic fiction and movies.
