Evelyn Hugo was born beautiful. The most beautiful girl anyone had ever seen. Her beauty is what brought her fame, but unfortunately not live, as her life is often overshadowed by her seven husbands. This book details the fictional movie star’s seven husbands, the lessons they taught her, and the secrets they kept.
This book intrigued me from the title, and couldn’t have shocked me more from the actual contents. It was so hard to put down. It kept me engaged from the first page to the last. Evelyn’s determination and self respect as a character is something motivational for all girls. She was always doing the right thing for herself, even if the cameras and those following her didn’t agree. The only thing a little tricky about this book is that it jumps back and forth in time. There is a “present day” and there’s a “flashback.” I would recommend this book to those that enjoy historical fiction, drama, and romance. I would put a trigger warning for mature adult themes such as explicit language, sexual content, drug use, and suicide. Overall, I rate this book 5 stars.
