Six of Crows is essentially a high-speed adventure set in a fantasy world. But there’s much more to the story. Kaz Brekker, notorious for leading dangerous people through dangerous missions, is offered an impossibly large sum of money if he completes an even more impossible heist. In order to do so, he needs a good crew. No, a great crew. A crew that is willing to suffer and put everything on the line. And Kaz finds just that. Inej, Jesper, Wylan, Nina and Matthias hold the perfect skill sets for such an endeavor. They set off to complete their mission, praying they make it out alive.
I’ve never read such a detailed story about a prison break, but I am all for it. The characters were intricate but very relatable. The constant comedic banter between them paired well with the dark setting of the story. Reading this book was, in some ways, like watching a movie. The descriptions were rich and yet I never got tired of them. My jaw dropped at the end of every chapter. There were enough plot twists that I wondered why the book wasn’t longer. I whole-heartedly recommend this book to anyone hoping to read about thrilling clever thieves that keep you guessing the whole time.
