As the book writer for Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark, Berger writes about the creative process for writing a musical. Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark had a much more complicated beginning than most musicals. From rewrites to funding issues, to injuries, this musical’s origin story had its share of troubles.
This book really dives into the creative process and the work behind writing a Broadway musical. In the acknowledgments, Burger writes about how the book had been cut down considerably, but I still felt like the story was paced oddly. In some places, it seemed to drag onward, but in others, it felt rushed. I would not recommend this book because it did not keep me entertained very well. This book might be better for people who like slower books, however. I would rate this book a 2 out of 5 stars.
