Stick Dog(#1) is the first book in the series Stick Dog, which is about 5 stray dogs who go on interesting missions to find food to eat. There are five dogs: Karen, Mutt, Poo-poo, Stripes and Stick-Dog. In this book, the dogs are relaxing in the suburbs of a big city when they smell hamburgers coming from the park. When they go to investigate, Poo-poo gets distracted by a squirrel, his arch-nemesis, and tries to figure out ways to attack the squirrel. Stick-dog helps him focus again. They reach the park, and see four humans grilling hamburgers. They are famished, and have to come up with plans to take the hamburgers for themselves. Each dog devises a plan, including stealing a car, biting the humans, putting on a show and more. Will the dogs succeed in any of their crazy plans, or will they have to find food another day?
The book Stick Dog is hilarious. I love how Tom Watson tried to connect with the reader by talking to them in a second-person writing style throughout the book to give a few more laughs. The characters are well-developed and each have unique, funny personalities which had me chuckling throughout the whole book.
