Stick Dog Craves Candy by Tom Watson, is the seventh book of the Stick Dog book series. The book starts out with Karen, Stripes, Mutt, and Poo-poo getting lost looking for the giant pipe that Stick Dog lived in, even though it wasn’t very hard to find. When they got there, they started discussing finding food again, and Poo-poo tried to scent any food that they could look for. He found nothing, so the dogs decided to venture into a nearby neighborhood up to a house. Stripes looked through a window, and then she screamed to all the dogs to run for their lives. When they found a safe spot, she said that she saw two witches. Stick Dog thought she had not seen them correctly, but when the two creatures came out of their house, to Stick Dog’s eyes they were indeed witches. In addition, they started seeing humans pour out from the houses in the neighborhood, looking like all sorts of creatures, from ghosts and goblins to Superman and princesses, and knocking on doors to get candy. Are all these people indeed the monsters they represent, or will the dogs be safe and get their hands on some candy?
I liked this book a lot. One thing I found different from the previous books is that Stick Dog actually gets something wrong when he thinks that two human girls are indeed witches and will boil the dogs alive. Previously, he is the only dog who realizes what is actually going on, but in this book it takes some time. This adds a lot to the suspense in the book. In addition, the book was really funny, especially when an old grandma with bad vision and hearing thinks that the five dogs are actually five kids wearing dog costumes. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
