Stick Dog Slurps Spaghetti by Tom Watson, is the sixth book of the Stuck Dog book series. The book starts off with the dogs being hungry again, and Mutt feeling bad about eating rope, even though no one else eats it. They then decide to play tug-of-war, and try to look for a rope. They instead find a carton with noodles in it, and it is delicious. They decide to look for the restaurant listed on the carton to get more. It turns out to be on the top of a steep hill, so each dog thinks of a plan to get to the top. As each dog gives a crazy plan, Stick Dog slowly lures them up the hill. By the time they finish their plans, they are already there! But now the hard part comes. It is a busy day in the spaghetti restaurant, and the dogs are likely to be seen if they try to walk right in. Once again, the dogs have ideas to take some spaghetti, including Poo-poo’s very violent thought of chomping on human legs. Will the dogs get to taste some spaghetti or will they have to be content with the little they already tasted?
I loved this book! I found it extremely amusing how Stick Dog’s friends were so clueless half of the time and often blamed(perhaps jokingly) things on Stick Dog. This time there was one main point at which the dogs could provide their ideas(but another time in which Poo-poo tried to implement his own thoughts), and I found Stick Dog’s way of getting up the hill pretty clever. Finally, I like how Stick Dog always makes his friends feel better about themselves, like when he tells Stripe that it’s not her fault she’s bad at math, it’s Math’s fault. Because of all this, I give this book a five out of five.
