In the last installment of the Mirror Visitor series, Ophelia and her husband, Thorn, realize that their search for the Other was ultimately limited to the mirror. As they travel through different lands, obstacles, and riddles, they must confront their passion for each other, which they are forced to keep secret. Ophelia and Thorn must find the Other, whose power is slowly consuming other regions and lands and destroying civilizations, with the threat that their home could very well be next. As Ophelia fights against familiar and new enemies, she discovers new information that only leads her to ask more questions. But, as Ophelia confronts her past and enemy, will she be able to give up the people she loves the most? Or will she give up her true home?
I’ll cut it short- this book was terrible. Don’t get me wrong, the writing was amazing, and the plot sent me in an adrenaline rush like all the other books in the series. HOWEVER, there were several things that I felt the book could have done better. First of all, what was the reason for the perspective of Victoria? I don’t really see how it could have come in significance and this also ties into the perspective of the Other. We get it, he’s destroying land. What else? The varying perspectives didn’t really help me with understanding the story and instead just made me bored and annoyed. While the plot was certainly fast paced, it also came off rushed at times. For example, the separation of Ophelia and Thorn was just… not it. Given that we had around like six scenes of them together, I actually didn’t think that the author would choose to go down that horrendous path, but I suppose there is a first time for everything! This is the last book of the series and is also my last review on this series as well. That being said, I tie this back into my first review and answer my question of whether I read a good series or not: the answer is NO. I will write another review when a good series comes my way, but that time has not come yet. Sigh.
